Shift

This painting is one that formed in my head months ago…when I was thinking about how our perspectives shift, change and evolve over time. So in the painting I created something similar to a visual timeline. As a child, our heart and soul is so pure…but our perspectives are so limited - so black and white. Which is why the silhouette of the little girl is pretty colorless…except for her heart, which is painted in vibrant, warm tones. Our heart + soul are shaped by the many experiences we have as we grow. The ball and bracelet symbolize those experiences that shape us. As adults, we have the ability to spread love and acceptance within our communities by embracing our expanded perspectives and creating better, warmer , more welcoming places for all. This is what the colorful array represents in the last silhouette.
