Plastic Society - Collection 1: Arts + Crafts
This is the first collection of paintings in my Plastic Society Series. The paintings are images of plastic things we use… painted on upcycled plastic. The plastic surfaces range from coffee canister lids to laundry detergent lids to a repurposed plastic tray. The purpose of this series is to hopefully increase awareness of plastic usage and ways that we can upcycle, recycle and tweak the things we do to better care for our earth.
Painting on a different surface was a learning process for me. It took searching and finding plastic primer, so I could get the paint to adhere to the plastic…and then I also learned the hard way that super glue does not adhere to all types of plastic (when attempting to add wires to the backs of the pieces). I also created my smallest painting to date which was a challenge. In the coming months I’ll be creating collections inspired by plastic usage in other areas of our lives: cosmetics, toys, cooking, toolbox, etc. So stay tuned for more plastic paintings and ways we can all care more for our earth 🌎
I have made it available for you to purchase separate pieces -OR- the entire collection…simply select the option you would like from the drop down menu, it will adjust - show you the picture and corresponding price and can then be added to your cart.
