As a child, I can remember the frustration in not being able to see my own growth/progress at things – whether it was my art, gymnastics, handwriting – whatever I was focused on achieving at the time. I’m thankful that as adults…we have the gift of looking back at our former selves and seeing the growth - then vs. now.
In this painting, I purposely painted 3 of the leaves as just geometric shapes. Those leaves have not reached their full potential yet, but they are still a beautiful part of the plant. The parts of ourselves that we struggle with, that haven’t reached their full potential…are still a beautiful part of who we are.
