Polyptych

You may have heard of a diptych or triptych, a set of two or three pieces of art that make a whole. Well, I’ve been working on one that is nine pieces, so it is referred to as a polyptych. It has been quite the undertaking. Not only because it is 9 paintings all rolled into one…but it is full of sharp, geometric shapes that require quite a bit of preciseness and more rigidity. It is also filled with varying tints and shades of colors that are closely related. It has required a lot of mixing, repainting, and patience. I can see the end result in there and have to admit, it is beautiful. The process though, has been far from it. It isn’t lost on me…that this situation mirrors life in so many regards. We are always longing for a beautiful end result, but life happens during the process and in the struggles. So as I’m struggling to make it to the finish line on this polyptych - I will make it my goal to try to slow down and enjoy the process. I hope that 2023 is off to a good start for you, and I hope this year you’ll be able to focus more on your now. 💗
